Blend 3 Texture: 4.29.11; 6pm; Rexburg, ID; f9; 1/250; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual

I merged these images using the paintbrush tool (black) to blend layers in Adobe Photoshop. I changed the opacity and size of brush for desired results. I played around with some auto-blend options but was unhappy with the lack of precision they provided, so I did it by hand. All images have been slightly adjusted, including: levels, saturation, and slight cropping on some. Edits were only done to enhance the natural structure, color, and frame of each photograph. To add the text I selected desired size and font and applied it as an overlay to the mask of the image. Then I lowered the opacity to show the rock texture through it. The location of this shoot was the Nature Park in Rexburg, Idaho.
Week 2: Spring Colors

1. Orange Smiles: 4.29.11; 6pm; Rexburg, ID; f 6.3; 1/200; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual
2. Bucket: 4.29.11; 6pm; Rexburg, ID; f 9; 1/250; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual
3. Fruit Bowl: 4.29.11; 6pm; Rexburg, ID; f 9; 1/200; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual
4. Flowers from Home: 4.29.11; 6pm; Rexburg, ID; f9; 1/200; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual
5. Painted Nails: 4.29.11; 6pm; Rexburg, ID; f9; 1/200; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual
6. Bags: 4.29.11; 6pm; Rexburg, ID; f22; 1/15; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual

I picked orange to represent my spring colors photo shoot. I shot in Manual mode and changed the aperture and shutter speeds as needed. For the first image I changed my aperture to 6.3 to allow sharp detail in the foreground and less detail in the background of the rocks. In contrast, for my last image I changed to a large aperture (f22) in order to keep both the oranges and grass in focus. Minor edits to all images include: levels, saturation, and cropping on some. I preformed some minor edits just to bring out the color in all images. All images taken at Nature Park in Rexburg, Idaho. Models included: Ashley Wilson and Danica Reed.

Week 1: Cutouts

1. Vans: 4.19.2011; 9am; Rexburg, Idaho; f 5.6; 1/200; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual
2. Baskets: 4.23.2011; 2pm; Rexburg, Idaho; f 13; 1/320; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual

I really enjoyed learning this technique. I used the quick selection tool to select and cut out my images. No edits were made to images. Cutouts are useful and allow many possibilities for backgrounds. During this assignment I also got to play around with my camera's manual settings. I really enjoyed the creative range this gave me.

7. Cheers: 4.15.2011; 6pm; Newport Beach, California; f 5.6; 1/800; Canon Rebel T2i; Manual

I love outdoors photography. In these images I mainly used automatic settings until recently when I learned how to use manual preferences. The last picture might be my favorite because of the emotion captured in the image. The boy is sharp and in focused, but his Father behind him is slightly out of focus. It is a story of triumph and success achieved through manual settings. I can not wait to learn more about shutter speed and F-stop to add to the quality and style of my photography. Image 5 was changed to black and white. No additional edits were made.
